AI Training for Nonprofits

Practical AI training for nonprofit staff and employment program clients. We identify grant funding before you commit — in many cases, training costs your organization nothing out of pocket.

We work with Jewish federations, employment programs, human services organizations, and workforce development nonprofits in Detroit metro and nationwide.

Explore grant funding

We find the funding before you commit

Nonprofit budgets for new initiatives are tight. Before we talk about scope or price, we identify which grants cover this work — state workforce funds, federal WIOA programs, foundation grants, and local funders like The Jewish Fund in Detroit.

In the first meeting, we bring a funding landscape document showing what is available, what you would apply for, and what the realistic net cost to your organization is. Often it is zero or close to it.

Our role in the grant structure: you are the grantee and fiscal agent; Palavir is named in the budget as the implementing partner. Grant funds pay our fee.

Who we work with

We work with nonprofits across the full spectrum of human services — organizations that run lean, serve community members, and need practical tools rather than enterprise-scale consulting.

The employment program angle is particularly strong. Organizations that prepare people for work in 2025 and beyond need to address AI fluency directly — not as a trend, but as a job-readiness requirement.

How the process works

1

Funding landscape call

We start with a 30-minute call to understand your organization, your employment programs, and your staff development needs. We bring a one-page document showing which grants apply and what the likely net cost is.

2

Grant application support

We help you identify the right first grant to apply for — often Going PRO or The Jewish Fund for staff training, or WIOA registration for employment program clients. We support the application narrative.

3

Training delivery

Once funding is in place, we deliver the workshop or curriculum on-site at your facility. You get a team that can use AI tools, with documentation for grant reporting.

Nonprofit AI Training FAQ

Common questions from nonprofits and employment programs

How can training really cost nothing?

Several grants exist specifically for this purpose. Michigan's Going PRO Talent Fund reimburses employers (including nonprofits) for staff training — often covering 100% of costs. The Jewish Fund in Detroit gives Professional Development Grants to Jewish nonprofit staff. WIOA funds cover training for job-seeker program clients on a per-participant basis. In many cases, the combination of these sources covers the full cost. We help you identify which ones apply before you commit to anything.

What does 'implementing partner' mean?

Most grants require a nonprofit to be the grantee — they cannot go directly to a for-profit consulting firm. In our structure, your organization applies for the grant and receives the funds. You then contract with Palavir to deliver the training. Grant funds pay our fee. Your out-of-pocket cost is the difference between what the grant covers and our total fee — which is often zero.

What is the AI job-readiness curriculum for employment programs?

This is a 2-day or 6-session curriculum designed for clients in job training programs who are preparing to enter or re-enter the workforce. It covers what employers now expect around AI tool fluency, using AI for job search and resume writing, hands-on practice with free tools like ChatGPT and Claude, and how to keep up as tools change. It is designed to be delivered at your facility by Palavir trainers, customized to the industries your clients are entering.

Do you work outside of Detroit?

Yes. While we are based in metro Detroit and can meet in person locally, we work with nonprofits and employment programs nationwide. Most of the grant sources (Going PRO is Michigan-specific, but WIOA and foundation grants are broader) apply nationally. If you are outside Michigan, we will identify the equivalent state-level workforce grants that apply to you.

How long does it take from first conversation to training delivery?

The fastest path is The Jewish Fund or Going PRO for staff training — both have relatively short application timelines. Going PRO can move in 4–6 weeks from application to award for some employers. WIOA registration as an Eligible Training Provider takes about 30 days. In a best-case scenario, you could have funded training delivered within 8–12 weeks of our first meeting.
