Reporting That Works Mid-ERP-Migration for a Materials Distributor
Multi-site textile and industrial materials distributor
Situation
A distributor was midway through moving off a legacy AS/400 system onto a cloud ERP. History sat in the old system, current transactions in the new one, and nothing reported across both. Every question about sales, inventory value, or late orders was answered by someone pulling it by hand.
Task
Stand up reporting the business can trust on the new ERP now, without waiting for the migration to finish, and leave it in their own tenant rather than a consultant's.
Action
Built the semantic models and published live, hourly-refreshing reports into the client's own Power BI workspace: sales, inventory, and open back orders. Several figures the team had written off as not computable turned out to be computable once the model was built against the right tables, including inventory value, markdown exposure, and the raw-versus-finished-goods split. Delivered a plain-language guidebook so their own people can run and extend the reports.
Results (3)
- •Three live reports running on hourly-refresh models in the client's own workspace
- •Metrics previously recorded as impossible on the new ERP now computed and reported
