Business intelligence and Power BI for Southeast Michigan manufacturers

Reports on top of the ERP, inventory and order data you already have, built to tell the plant and the office what needs doing this week, not just what happened last month.

Based in metro Detroit, so a plant visit is a drive, not a flight. Fixed fee, quoted before work starts.

Reports that end in a next action

Most manufacturers can already see stock levels and sales by customer. The reports worth building take the same data to the decision someone has to make.

Inventory

Which items to reorder this week given what is on order, what is committed to open orders and each supplier's lead time, and which stock has not moved in months.

Open orders

Which orders will ship late or short, and which customers should hear it from you before they find out.

Margin

Margin by product, job and customer, with the gap between standard and actual cost, so pricing conversations start from facts.

Receivables

Which customers to call today, in order, and how much is at stake on each.

These are examples of the kind of report, not results from a client. Works with QuickBooks and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, and with exports from other ERP systems.

How it starts

  1. Step 1

    A 30-minute fit call

What you run, where the data lives, and the one decision you most want a report to help with.

  2. Step 2

    A look at your data

Read access to the tables or exports that decision needs. Nothing is written back to your ERP.

  3. Step 3

    One dashboard, fixed fee

Scope, price and delivery date are agreed in writing before work starts. It is built in your own accounts.

  4. Step 4

    Handover

Documentation, a named owner on your side, and checks that flag when a refresh fails or a number stops adding up.

What the fit call will ask

  • Which ERP or accounting system do you run, and is it cloud or on premises?
  • Where do inventory, open orders and costs live today?
  • Who reads the reports now: the owner, the plant manager, the controller?
  • Do you use Power BI already, and which licences?
  • What is the one decision you would like a report to make easier this month?

What Palavir does not do

ERP implementation, configuration or migrations, and machine-level IoT or MES projects. Palavir builds the reporting and analytics layer on the data you already have and works alongside your ERP partner.

Manufacturing BI questions

What owners, controllers and operations managers ask before hiring someone to build their reporting.

Who does business intelligence consulting for manufacturers in Southeast Michigan?

Palavir is a metro Detroit BI and Power BI consultancy that builds reporting for small and mid-size manufacturers: inventory, open orders, margin and receivables reports on top of your ERP data, each ending in the decision someone has to make this week.

How much does a manufacturing dashboard cost?

It is a fixed fee, quoted after a 30-minute call, based on the decision the dashboard serves and how clean the data is. It starts with one dashboard so you can judge the work before committing to more. No hourly billing.

Do we need a data warehouse first?

Usually not to start. One dashboard can be built directly on your ERP data. A warehouse or a shared model earns its place once several reports need the same numbers.

Do you implement or configure ERP systems?

No. Keep your ERP partner for that. Palavir builds the reporting on top of the data you already have.

Can you report across several plants or companies?

Yes. Bringing each site or legal entity into one model on purpose is often the first thing a multi-site manufacturer asks for, and off-the-shelf reports often stop at one company: Microsoft's free Power BI apps for Business Central, for example, install per company.

Tell me what you wish your reports told you

Thirty minutes is enough to see what you run, what you report on today, and whether one dashboard would change a decision you make every week.
